1 Singing for dancing : and everyone can enjoy the fun at the Bal. A good base for the following workshops.
3 Breton dance music : The Eel Grinders will teach some of the dynamic and powerful music you will need for the Fest-Noz : Laridé, Gavotte, Plinn, Andro, Hanter Dro, Rond de Loudéac. The workshop will be based around the keys of G and A minor.
4 Intermediate dance workshop : Jessica will teach French couple dances. A basic workshop where techniques of turning dances (waltz, scottishe, polka and mazurka) will be taught. No experience or partner necessary.
5 Playing for dancing : A workshop on playing with other musicians for various types of French dance, using some of the basic repertoire to explore dance rythms and harmony. Open to players of any instrument and ability.
6 Morvan dance workshop : A great opportunity to experience and learn some of the distinctive and stylish set dances from this region of central France.
7 Advanced dance workshop : Further exploration of French dance styles : bourrées Auvergnates, rondeau (Gascony), and the valses impaires of Alsace. No partner necessary but knowledge of basic bourrées and waltz steps will be assumed. For beginners, attendance at workshop 1 and/or 2 would be recommended.
8. Breton dance workshop : Mike from On Bouge (French dance group in London) will be teaching various Breton circle dances, including the Gavotte.
